Overview

This position will support Pipeline Safety Management Systems (PSMS), risk management, operational performance, and compliance activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to performing analysis and job functions related to elements of Pipeline Safety Management including quality assurance, management of change, standard/procedure development/tracking, audit/incident tracking and emergency drill preparation.  This position will also develop reports, administer work processes and support initiatives led by the PSMS group.   Additionally, this position may represent the company to external industry groups and organizations. 

Responsibilities

  • Knowledgeable of and proficiently apply various code references which pertain to the gas system; this includes but may not be limited to 49 CFR Part 191 and 192 and other applicable industry standards.
  • Leads and assists with standards/procedures development, review and communication of changes to appropriate departments.
  • Knowledgeable in safety management system practices and provide direction on establishing supporting SMS programs.
  • Leads and assists with communicating safety management system principles within the organization.
  • Provides data analysis and assessments to Gas Operations and other Company departments in regards to areas of responsibility and other data sets as required.
  • Leads and assists with quality assurance activities for procedures, construction standards and other items occurring within Gas Operations.
  • Stays familiar with industry organizations and may participate on committees related to PSMS activities.
  • Leads and assists with projects, including collaboration with and/or management of third-party vendors.
  • Lead and assists in developing business strategies from historical information in conjunction with industry and regulatory information to help meet business goals and objectives.
  • Assists with development of budgets as requested.
  • Completes activities so as to provide an accident-free work place.
  • Conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • ABET Accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • EIT certification recommended.• Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to assimilate information on a wide range of gas industry topics.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and/or working knowledge of SharePoint, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.

Preferred Experience

  • A minimum of two to three years of experience in gas operations or gas regulatory compliance.

Work Conditions

  • Normal office environment with some field work.  Field work requires the ability to inspect work in trenches, frequent walking and climbing.

Physical Effort

  • Primarily sitting with some standing and walking and field work including work in excavations.

  • Low degree of physical hazards associated with this position.
